TT Group Secures Planning Approval for 99-Unit Residential Redevelopment in Stoke-on-Trent

TT Group has received formal planning consent from Stoke-on-Trent City Council to convert the former Telecom House office building in Hanley into a high-quality residential development comprising 99 units. Strategically located on Trinity Street, the seven-storey, 103,000 sq ft property was previously occupied by BT and has remained vacant in recent years.

The approved scheme will deliver a mix of 24 studio apartments, 61 one-bedroom units, and 14 two-bedroom homes. Designed to meet growing demand for urban housing, the development will offer modern living spaces within walking distance of key amenities and transport links in the city centre.

A core feature of the project is its commitment to sustainability. Delivered as a car-free development, it will include 110 secure cycle storage spaces to encourage active travel and reduce car dependency. Its proximity to Stoke-on-Trent’s well-connected bus network further supports low-carbon, accessible commuting options for future residents.

Fiona Johnson, Senior Asset Manager at TT Group, commented: “Planning approval ensures Telecom House can be revitalised, securing its future through the delivery of much-needed new homes. Ideally located in the city centre, the development will be car-free, with secure cycle storage and convenient access to local bus services offering residents sustainable transport choices.”

The project aligns with broader market trends in the adaptive reuse of underutilised commercial buildings, particularly in urban centres where housing pressure continues to rise. By repurposing an existing structure, the scheme contributes to more efficient land use and supports the city’s long-term regeneration objectives.

TT Group’s redevelopment of Telecom House represents a forward-looking investment in Stoke-on-Trent’s residential infrastructure, combining sustainable design with central city living to enhance both the urban fabric and housing supply.
