Speak Now or Stay Regulated: OMB Asks Americans to Help Cut Red Tape
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is inviting the public to help shape the future of U.S. regulations by submitting feedback on which federal rules should be reformed, improved, or eliminated.
Launched as part of a broader deregulatory initiative, the effort aims to reduce bureaucratic red tape, boost efficiency, and cut compliance costs for businesses and individuals.
“We want to hear directly from citizens, businesses, and communities,” said OMB Director Shalanda Young. “This is your chance to help us build smarter, more effective governance.”
🔍 What’s on the Table?
The OMB is reviewing thousands of federal regulations across industries including:
- Healthcare
- Finance
- Energy
- Transportation
- Small business
Submissions are being accepted through a new public portal, where anyone can highlight outdated, duplicative, or overly burdensome rules.
🗓️ Deadline for Input: June 15, 2025
The feedback will be used to inform future regulatory rollbacks or reforms, potentially impacting everything from permits and licensing to reporting requirements and agency oversight.
“Deregulation doesn’t mean no rules,” said policy analyst Lisa Carver. “It means making sure the rules work.”
The message from the White House is clear: if you want a say in how America is governed now is the time to speak up.
