NEO Launches E-Waste Recycling Program with HMR Envirocycle to Advance Green Real Estate in the Philippines

NEO, one of the Philippines’ foremost green office real estate developers, has announced the launch of a pioneering e-waste recycling program in partnership with HMR Envirocycle Philippines Inc. a move aimed at tackling the urgent and growing challenge of electronic waste.

Beginning this year, tenants in NEO’s seven premium office buildings can now conveniently dispose of old electronic devices including phones, computers, chargers, and accessories via designated e-waste drop-off points. The initiative not only streamlines the recycling process but reinforces NEO’s role as a trailblazer in sustainable real estate development.

“This partnership with HMR Envirocycle aligns with our sustainability goals by providing tenants with an easy and effective way to recycle e-waste,” said Gie Garcia, Co-Managing Director and Chief Sustainability Officer of NEO. “As an office real estate developer, we recognize the role we play in reducing environmental impact.”

A Responsible Partnership for a Circular Economy

HMR Envirocycle, a leading and internationally accredited e-waste management company, brings deep expertise to the collaboration. Their mission: ensure all collected electronic waste re-enters the circular economy, where valuable resources are recovered and environmental harm is minimized.

“We at HMR Envirocycle are thrilled to partner with NEO,” said Warren Carman, Vice President of Technology at HMR Philippines Inc. “This collaboration aligns perfectly with our shared vision of a future with zero waste to landfills.”

Each e-waste bin placed within NEO properties is a step toward zero-waste operations, empowering tenants to become active participants in environmental protection while simplifying responsible disposal.

Leading the Way in Sustainable Development

NEO’s e-waste recycling program is not a one-off initiative but part of its broader, long-term vision to lead sustainable and innovative practices in the real estate sector. The program reflects a growing awareness that sustainability is no longer optional; it’s integral to business success and tenant satisfaction.

“In our industry, sustainability is not just a responsibility, it’s a necessity,” added Raymond Rufino, CEO of NEO. “By integrating programs like e-waste recycling, we not only reduce our environmental footprint but also inspire our tenants to participate in building greener communities.”

E-Waste: A Global and Local Challenge

Electronic waste is the fastest-growing waste stream in the world, with millions of tons discarded each year. Improper disposal poses serious environmental and health risks. In the Philippines, as in many rapidly developing economies, the need for structured, scalable e-waste solutions is urgent.

Through this partnership, NEO and HMR Envirocycle are offering a scalable, tenant-focused solution that can serve as a model for sustainable urban development in Southeast Asia and beyond.

Looking Ahead

With the launch of this e-waste recycling program, NEO not only deepens its commitment to environmental responsibility but also strengthens its reputation as a forward-thinking, green real estate leader. This initiative is another milestone in its mission to create healthier workspaces, promote a circular economy, and foster a more sustainable future.

In an era where companies are measured by their environmental and social impact, NEO’s partnership with HMR Envirocycle is a powerful reminder that the future of real estate is not just built, it’s built responsibly.
