£2,000 Grants Available to Fuel Innovative Research in UK Agriculture

The Farmers Club Charitable Trust (FCCT) is now accepting applications for its Snapshot Study grants, offering up to £2,000 to support short-term, innovative research projects in UK agriculture. Since launching in 2022, the programme has awarded over £60,000 to projects covering diverse topics such as regenerative farming, mental health in farming communities, food education, and strategies to attract younger generations into the industry.

Applicants must submit a one-minute video outlining their research idea, its relevance, and potential impact, along with contact details and a referee. Successful candidates receive 80% of the funding upfront, with the remainder paid upon satisfactory completion.

The grant aims to empower farmers, students, and rural entrepreneurs with strong ideas to generate practical insights addressing challenges and opportunities in areas like climate-smart agriculture, rural wellbeing, farm diversification, education, biodiversity, and technological innovation.

Notable past recipients include Easter Ross farmer John Scott, whose study on farmers’ mental health contributed to the creation of Farmstrong Scotland, and Hannah Buisman, who advanced viticulture techniques benefiting the UK wine sector.

The FCCT encourages anyone with a compelling agricultural research concept to apply and contribute to shaping the future of UK farming.
